The SC-ST Cell of Naba Ballygunge Mahavidyalaya was established in accordance with the guidelines of UGC with the objective of implementation of orders regarding reservation for SC and ST candidates in admission, fellowships, scholarships and recruitment as per the guidelines. The Cell aims to empower the SC/ST students as well as staff in the college. The college takes special interest in facilitating financial support to students from these communities from government agencies and other sources. The Cell also aims to provide a platform where students can share their concerns, issues and the Cell takes appropriate measures to address these concerns. The students have been given the chance to approach the Cell to clear their queries and get their grievances addressed. Additionally, students are encouraged to participate in career orientation and skill enhancement programmes. It serves for the betterment and welfare of the SC-ST community.

Objectives:

• To implement the reservation policy for SCs/STs in the Universities.
• To implement, monitor and evaluate continuously the reservation policy in universities and colleges and plan measures for ensuring effective implementation of the policy and programme of the Government of India.
• The cell ensures the protection and reservation rights provided by the Indian constitution.
• Creating awareness about various scholarship programs offered by the State Government and the University Grants Commission (UGC).
• To counsel and guide SC/ ST students and help them to manage academic and personal issues of college life effectively.
